Forms

I hate forms.  Forms are up there with "things that suck more than anything".
My school has one that asks for gender.  I'm sure, technically, they want legal sex.  But they asked for gender.  So I'm torn between "they asked for it, so tell the truth and let them suffer their own idiocy" and "what if this makes things more difficult and I'm notsure if I want to come out like this".  yup.  fun.

Chances are I'll fill it out truthfully and staple something about transgenderists and the difference between biological sex and gender to it.

I'm sorry I can just imagine how frustrating that must be. My school now has forms that says transgender as a third option which I thought was pretty cool.

transgender as a third option which I thought was pretty cool. But what if your gender is not 'transgender'? I am transgendered but as an MTF I identity as female so if I am asked my gender the right answer is 'female'. My sex is male and because of that I am transgendered but I my gender still stays the same: female.

I also get pissed off how people in administration confuse gender and sex. I had a lecturer one in statistics who joked around telling us that gender/ sex is binary. Not only did her believe this but he also didn't know the difefrence between the two words. Ass wipe.

transgender would be awesome (just because they accept it), but it'd still leave me iwth the same "do I want to come out like this and will it cause problems?" :/

And people are idiots like that. I don't know which'd be worse: That they do not know the difference between gender and sex, or that they really think gender (in the actual meaning) is binary but acknowledge the difference. :/

well yew berry I hear you, but I think them listing transgender is a big step and showing compassion on the issue. some m2f, f2m and genderqueer people may prefer transgender/other but if you feel comfy with male or female and in your case female, the forms are already fine in your situation no?

They are fine. As long as they ask for sex and not gender. Requesting gender is just asking for trouble. :-)

yeah people often get the sex/gender thing confused, i understand, it is confusing but i guess we just need to work to create awareness.

Definitely. Or they should just leave an option to not answer.
